Anyone willing to endure Texas heat to stand up for their rights should be commended. It’s not easy, the sun is a very real threat. Here is how to stay safe:
What to wear
Sunscreen, and bring it along to re-apply
Light-colored, loose fitting clothes when possible.
A hat or headcover
Sunglasses
What to bring
Plenty of water
Snacks
Electrolyte packs
Battery powered fan/ mister
Umbrella for shade, you can even decorate it as a protest sign!
Staying safe
Drink plenty of water, stay fed
Spend time in the shade
Keep your body temperature down
If you feel weak, shakey, nauseous, or anything outside normal, find a place in the shade to sit down. Call for a medic
Call "Medic!" in an emergency!
Our volunteers are often veterans, nurses, EMT’s, or people who have taken training. They are there to help. Call for yourself, your friend, or anyone you see in need.
When you hear others call for medic, you can help my repeating the call and pointing in the direction of the call, then clearing a path for responding medics or safety team.
